Your knowledge and experience can help our students - the providers of tomorrow - learn to deliver the compassionate and skillful care patients deserve.
Our dedicated staff members coordinate student paperwork, make advanced scheduling requests, and verify student immunizations to help make precepting a seamless experience. The most common reason for choosing to precept is to give back to the medical profession, and it keeps providers current with resources and medical knowledge.

Preceptors interested in training our UI PA students may qualify for an adjunct clinical faculty appointment in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and Services. This process includes submitting a CV and two letters of recommendation. Once received, the application's information will be reviewed for eligibility, and a clinical rank can be assigned.
When approved, clinical preceptors will receive an email account to the University of Iowa, giving access to Hardin Medical library, which houses medical journals, clinical databases, research guides, and applications. Adjunct clinical faculty are also eligible for discounted rates of CME offered by the University of Iowa and discounts to sporting events and other activities on campus.
